I cannot believe I was so late to this party called Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy. I did hear a lot about this place from friends but honestly I just never got around going to Sector 15 (!). Yesterday though, going to this place took my Sunday evening mood a few notches up.
I’m going to be honest, the shops around C&D Speakeasy make you wonder, am I in the wrong neighbourhood because this does not look like an area a ‘hot, much talked about’ cocktail bar would be located. But in their defence, way way back in the day (try the Prohibition Era around the 1920s!), people would sell liquor in these hole-in-the-wall type joints because the manufacture and sale of liquor was illegal in the US around that time. Now, they were called ‘Speak-easies’ because one was supposed to speak about these places in public in order to avoid getting caught!
Quite a story huh!
So coming back to me looking for this place in an area I had never been to before, this little speakeasy was humbly sitting in a corner of the Sector 15 neighbourhood shopping area.
Once we got in, it just got better and better. It was a Sunday evening so there wasn’t a rush – in fact there were only two other tables occupied, but we didn’t mind the peace and quiet at all! We got there at 8 so we had just missed the happy hours so that was a bit of a bummer. (Yeah who wants to miss happy hour, right?!) But when we tasted our first cocktails we did not mind it at all!! We were looking at the bartenders making our perfect cocktails with so much love and passion, we could almost taste it in our drink. I like how they recommend stuff to you and make the drinks to your liking.
The food menu is also quite extensive and being a foodie myself, I would say that on this specific occasion, I preferred the cocktails better than the food 🙂
Loved the experience and I definitely plan on being a regular here, hopefully during the happy hour next time!
