I cannot begin to tell you how kicked I was when I found out my very favorite wafer thin pizza place was coming to Gurgaon. Only the hubby couldn’t get why I was so happy about a deli opening close to our home. That only lasted till he actual tasted the amazing-ness that is everything at Indigo Delicatessen. Indigo Delicatessen is not new to food, it’s been around since 2005, only finding a perfect opportunity to enter the heart of Gurgaon – DLF Cybercity. Being a Bombay girl, I’ve been to the Indigo Deli in Mumbai innumerable times and loved it every.single.time. This place was what made me fall in love with Chicken Caesar salad almost a decade ago and when anchovies found a place in my heart – thanks to Indigo Deli. It was also where I had panna cotta for the first time ever, much before Masterchef Australia made it’s way into our tellies and homes.
Since I had so many beautiful memories associated with it, I couldn’t wait for Rohan to love it just as much as I do.

The moment you enter you are greeted by smiling staff into this warm and beautiful space which immediately puts you in sort of a zen-ish mode. Also there is this massive dessert fridge which kind of calls out to you the whole time. I warned you! 🙂
I know the menu by heart but I was curious to see if anything had changed since I had been there last – about 2 years ago in Mumbai. Also – I knew exactly what I wanted to get, but I am the kind of person who likes to take the time to read the entire menu and make the right decision 😉
When we were sat at our table, our server Laxman explained the specials menu to us and along with the bread basket, got us their range of house mustard and my GOD was it amazing. It gave me enough to do till Rohan could decide what he wanted to eat. We zeroed in on the Half & Half Wafer Thin Pizza – Half with Spinach, Artichokes, Zucchini, Tomatoes and Parmesan Cream and the other Half with Bbq Chicken.
The wafer thin pizza is as thin as a tortilla and crispy but not like you can’t use your knife and fork to eat it. It also holds all the toppings and no sogginess at all! Bottomline – DELICIOUS.
Next up – Fish and chips. My husband has the most humble taste in food. You give him fish and chips in any restaurant, anywhere in the world, he’ll happily oblige. Normally I nudge him into trying other things but I did not do that here because I know for a fact that the fish and chips in this place is to die for. The perfectly beer battered fried fish with malt vinegar and beautiful fries just makes your close your eyes and take it all in.
While we devoured these amazing delicacies, the few other surefire hits here are the Citrus Salad, the Chicken Caesar Salad, Eggs Benedict, the Deli Roast Chicken and the Spicy BBQ ribs.
We ordered the house special for dessert that evening – a sugarfree chocolate pannacotta with raspberry coulis. Needless to say – it was DIVINE. Beautiful, smooth pannacotta with just the right flavour of dark chocolate served with tangy raspberry coulis.
Berries are chocolate are always a match made in heaven and this particular dessert was just the perfect end to a perfect date night.
